Desde los Andes donde el cielo danza, y la nieve canta, aquí está el volcán Cotopaxi.
Conocido como uno de los volcanes más peligrosos del mundo, su actividad recurrente y su historial de erupciones han dejado una huella profunda en la historia de esta tierra, según el Instituto Geofísico.
La masa de hielo del Cotopaxi comienza a desplegarse desde los 4900 metros y alcanza su cúspide a 5897 metros sobre el nivel del mar, dependiendo del clima. Sin embargo, este glaciar también enfrenta un deterioro alarmante. La combinación de su estado eruptivo y los efectos del calentamiento global amenazan con acelerar su desaparición, hasta el momento ha perdido el 45% de su superficie.
From the Andes where the sky dances, and snowy sings, here is the Cotopaxi volcano. Known as one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world, its recurrent activity and history of eruptions have left a deep mark on the history of this land, according to the Geophysical Institute.
Cotopaxi’s ice mass begins to unfold from 4900 meters and reaches its peak at 5897 meters above sea level, depending on the weather. However, this glacier also faces an alarming deterioration. The combination of its eruptive state and the effects of global warming threaten to accelerate its disappearance, so far it has lost 45% of its surface.
